Thank you for the great gift
I meant to do this up shortly after the trip, my apologies for my tardiness.
Do you remember the time that you were surprised at Christmas time?
Well, I have a tale that you might enjoy, please don’t get annoyed with the rhyme.
It was the eve before Santa was to drop off his gifts
This is my favourite night, everyone is happy, there are no rifts.
However, as I placed the gifts around the tree,
There was a gift I was curious about, it was something I wanted to see.
It was a gift from Murray Street, and we started by Matt unwrapping with gift one,
It was a game Apples to Apples, who would be the person who would won.
The second was a gift unwrapped by Shari that I knew very well from days of old,
It was a square box with packaging of gold.
Although, no one else got it, I laughed and laughed,
Why it was a pizza in a box from none other than Kraft.
The third gift was unwrapped by me
And was wondering what could it be.
It was small, in an envelope size,
From the game and pizza, Dukes of Hazzard DVD would be my decision of wise.
It was a letter, from Troy, also known as my brother,
Make your way to Boston…..and oh mother….
I could not believe it, he had tickets from ticketmaster who would sell,
And who knew it, and Jenn and Lisa were to come as well.
On March 3rd, we shall go to a game
Against the Habs and the Bruins, it would not be tame.
It would be fun, and we would all have a ball,
If I couldn’t make it, I would drive, walk or crawl.
It was the night before I would fly out,
It would be Ryan’s birthday, and there was snow about.
I tried to fly, but there was no flyin’
And because of the snow, there was no concert for Ryan.
It would be the next day that I would take flight,
There would be no snow, there would be no frost bite.
It would be a Friday where I flew with Westjet,
Picked up by Mom and Dad, and drove to Sussex and all the others I met.
Although, it was snowing that night,
We left for Fredericton and we were on our way with barely any sight.
We landed at our grandparents safe and sound,
And in the morning, we tried to leave quickly to make some ground.
We left after a large breakfast, with the GPS for us to see,
All of us with passports, except for Lisa who wasn’t happy with her ID.
It was a long drive, but none of us mind,
Except for those stupid tolls that put us in a petty cash bind.
We got to Boston with ease
And the hotel was full of Quebec Hab fans, some of us were not pleased.
It was a couple of hours until game time,
We took off quickly and yes, I know this story is full of rhyme.
We were dropped off by the shuttle at the airport,
We were all anxious to attend the greatest of all “this sport”.
It was a quick subway ride, one or two stops,
We got to a the city center and was lost, we had to ask the cops.
However, all wasn’t lost, we got to see some cool statues,
And more fans from Montreal, that had no virtues.
Then all of a sudden, there it was, the TD Northbank garden where the Bruins play,
In the gift shop we were jammed in, kind of like sardines they would say.
We sat at our seats, after escalator after escalator,
Where the bleeeeep, was that darn elevator.
We found our seats and enjoyed the view,
We watched the Bruins warm up as well as the blanc, rouge et bleu.
As the game started, we all yelled and cheerd,
Even though we were the minority and routed for the Bruins which was weird.
Except for Jenn, she thought she should cheer for the Canadiens for the sake of dad,
We knew that she was done for, their singing was bad.
In the end it was 3 – 1 for the team that was from Bean Town,
I was happier than the other three, I had a smile not a frown.
Then it was back to the hotel, via the shuttle and subway,
Then all of a sudden it was Jenn taking on the Hispanics at B K.
We left Massachusetts with all of our bellies a full of bacon, pancakes and omelet,
Then we arrived to the Christmas Tree Store, which made Lisa vomit.
Also it was a quick trip to Fenway, the home of the Red Sox
Jenn wanting pictures of statutes and herself, these guys now live in a box.
It was back on the road that we ended up and miles we were axes,
We had to come up to Customs and claim our duties and taxes.
It was a great trip, I enjoyed it very much,
There was plenty of talk of doing it again and such.
I want to say thank you to Troy for the inviting me out,
And Lisa and Jenn for coming without any doubt.

I can't believe it's been that long since I checked the blog!! The poem is great Jamie. I'm glad that you liked the gift so much. I enjoyed putting it together and couldn't wait for it to happen. My "forgot to get US cash" thing worked like a charm. Anyway, I had such a great time and I realize how important it is to do this kind of thing from time to time. Oh, and I got my card that you guys sent. I loved it! Man, Animal never gets old with me.
